What Are The Signs Of Diabetes
Diabetes is due to high glucose level in the blood stream. Most of the symptoms of diabetes appear very slowly making diabetes very difficult to recognize in initial stages. Diabetes is mainly when there is low insulin content in the body.
Pancreas secrete a hormone known as insulin which regulates blood sugar level in the body. Pancreas has a group of cells which are known as islet of langerhans. Among them beta cells secretes insulin.
Diabetes is mainly classified into three types. Type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is more common among teenagers. So it is known by the name Juvenile diabetes. In type 1 diabetes body stops secreting insulin.
Type 1 diabetic patients need to take insulin injection to maintain blood sugar levels to normal. Here insulin is must. So it is also known by the name Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.
Second type of diabetes is type 2 diabetes. Which is more common among adults who are above 40 plus age. So it called by the name adult onset diabetes. Here the insulin produced by the pancreas is not sufficient to maintain enough blood sugar levels.
The most common diabetes signs and symptoms are :
Increased thirst
Frequent urination
Unclear vision
Increased hunger
Slow healing of wounds
Impotence in men
The third major type of diabetes is gestational diabetes which is to women. It is during second half of pregnancy. Women with gestational diabetes are at risk of having large babies. If gestational diabetes is unchecked it leads to type 2 diabetes.
Among the major reasons of diabetes diet is one. Diabetic people should have well balanced diet. Diet should be rich in fiber. Low in simple carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates should be replaced by complex carbohydrates. Examples of fruits and vegetables rich in fiber are broccoli, peas, beans, apricot, apple, dates.
Changes in life style is also one of the major cause of diabetes. Stagnated kind of lifestyle leads to diabetes. Diabetic people need to involve in physical activities. Physical activities in the sense running, skipping, swimming. The advantages of exercise are their will be good blood circulation. It makes a person active and look healthy.
